Unfortunately, it is necessary to know where the beneficiary resided at the relevant time and which court is the proper venue.
The most convenient way for the foreign executor/administrator is to ask the beneficiary to provide a statement from “Schufa” (Schufa-Selbstaukunft), which should show any pending bankruptcy proceedings. The beneficiary can apply for such a statement here.
