Death Certficate (Sterbeurkunde)

A German death certificates (Sterbeurkunde) is a document issued by a registrar of the local civil Registration Office (Standesamt) that declares the name, date and location of a person's death as later entered in an official register of deaths. Germany has no central repository for civil records. Death certificates can be obtained from the local civil registration office (Standesamt) at the place were the person died.
