Intestacy Rules (Regeln der gesetzlichen Erbfolge)

Intestacy law, also referred to as "the law of descent and distribution" or "intestate succession statutes", refers to the body of law that determines who is entitled to the property from the estate under the rules of inheritance. The German intestacy rules are codified in §§ 1924 to §§ 1936 of the German Civil Code (BGB). Under German law, the rules of intestate succession apply if, there is no Will or contract of inheritance, the will is invalid or the will does not cover the whole estate.
