bankruptcy searches

There is no requirement for bankruptcy searches in Germany probate law. Foreign executors or administrators may use the official website for bankruptcy searches in Germany:  https://www.insolvenzbekanntmachungen.de/cgi-bin/bl_suche.pl

Unfortunately, it is necessary to know where the beneficiary resided at the relevant time and which court is the proper venue.

The most convenient way for the foreign executor/administrator is to ask the beneficiary to provide a statement from “Schufa” (Schufa-Selbstaukunft), which should show any pending bankruptcy proceedings. The beneficiary can apply for such a statement here.
