Property regime of community of property (Gütergemeinschaft)

Under the contractual German marital property regime of community of property (Gütergemeinschaft), the property of the husband and the property of the wife become the joint property of both spouses (marital property).  A spouse may not dispose of his share of the marital property and of the individual objects that are part of the marital property; he is not entitled to demand partition. Assets received by way of inheritance or donation are seperate property (Vorbehaltsgut).
