Law on the Remuneration of Attorneys (Gesetz über die Vergütung der Rechtsanwältinnen und Rechtsanwälte - RVG).

The statutory fees of a German Attorney-at-Law (Rechtsanwalt) is calculated under the Law on the Remuneration of Attorneys (Gesetz über die Vergütung der Rechtsanwältinnen und Rechtsanwälte - RVG). Such scale fee will depend on the value of your interest in the matter, the time spent, the qualification of the lawyer, the complexity of the matter and other factors. In tax matters, the rules of the RVG refer to the Remuneration Ordinance for Tax Consultants (Steuerberatervergütungsverordnung - StbVV). While a fee agreement may provide for fees that is higher or lower than the scale fee, the scale fee as minimum fee is mandatory under § 4 RVG for representation in a German court.
