Property law (Sachenrecht)

Property law (Sachenrecht) is the area of law that governs the ownership rights in things (as defined in § 90 of the German Civil Code, BGB).  The German property law is codified in the third book (§§ 854 to § 1296 BGB). German law recognises only certain types of property rights (numerus clausus of property rights, Typenzwang).
