Der Beitrag erläutert einführend die – im Wesentlichen in allen US-Bundesstaaten einheitlichen – Grundzüge der joint tenancy und zeigt auf, was bei der Verwendung im Rahmen der Nachlassplanung und Nachlassabwicklung zu beachten ist. Zum besseren Verständnis der kollisionsrechtlichen Einordnung erfolgt zunächst eine kurze Einführung in das Internationale Privatrecht der USA.
