Together with cooperating Canadian lawyers, we support you in enforcing claims of dependants and other persons, for whom was not provided for sufficiently by the decedent, in German-Canadian inheritance cases. Our services include, in particular,

  • determination of the applicable law;
  • determination of the forced share (Pflichtteil) under German law;
  • determination of rights of dependants and other persons under Canadia law; 
  • determination of jurisdiction and proper venue;
  • advice on the validity and effect of a choice of law clause (Rechtswahlklausel);
  • (by Canadian lawyers): lawsuits in Canadian courts;
  • recognition and enforcement of Canadian court decisions (e.g. under Division 6 WESA) in Germany; 
  • recognition and enforcement in Canada of German court decisions regarding the German compulsory portion;

Places of consultation and remote consultation

We represent clients in courts throughout Germany. In Canada, we work closely with lawyers in British Columbia and Ontario. Consultation and coordination with the client usually takes place via Zoom, telephone and e-mail. Of course, we also offer personal consultation in one of our offices.
