Election of succession law under the European Succession Regulation

Under the European Succession Regulation, the law of the country of the last habitual residence of the decedent will govern succession. However, under Art. 22 of the Regulation the testator may choose that the law of the country of nationality (at the time of the choice or at the time of death) of the decedent should apply to his succession. This can be the law of an EU Member State or the law of a non-EU country.
